If my husband can lose weight you can too
I have been involved in the Weight Loss industry for quite some time. My husband, love of my life, has watched my weight go up and down through our marriage. My main problem is, like most people, I love to eat. Three years ago I made a decision to really focus on my eating habits and Exercise. Previously I would follow a diet and Exercise plan until I lost the desired weight then I would try to be good, but ultimately the weight would gradually come back on. I realized I had to make a life decision to be fit and healthy.
My husband came home one day and said he heard something on the radio. He said he heard women that seek to improve themselves often leave their husbands for something new. That most husbands tend to let themselves go whereas women are constantly trying to improve themselves. Anyway he decided to put a real effort in his Weight Loss. Normally he would try for a week or two with no real commitment. He never wanted to change his eating habits or Workout. This time was different.
In times past I would tell him if he would cut out second and third helpings without even exercising he would lose weight. This time he decided to add Walking and running into his plan everyday. After a month he had lost about ten pounds. I rewarded him with his own ipod. With him taking Weight Loss seriously it helps to keep me going. Having a partner in your Weight Loss makes all the difference in the world. Before I would have to go it alone and watch him eat and eat while I felt like I had to make better choices. Now he has been exercising for about three months and he has lost an additional ten pounds. He is now to the last ten pounds and has been struggling.
I love how it has changed the way our kids look at their Dad. They know I make healthy food choices, but now they have been watching their Dad change his ways. It has had a positive effect on them. We need to model the behavior we expect out of them. With us both making healthy choices together it will make their life easier. They know exercising is important not just to lose weight, but to have a healthy and strong body. I want my daughter especially to have a healthy self image.
I will give an update later on my husband’s Weight Loss. It’s funny how an interview on the radio got him fired up to lose weight. You never know what is going to inspire you, but when you find it…RUN with it!
