Filed under: Programs — admin @ 10:41 am

I don’t know about you, but I love Chocolate. So when I found this recipe I had to try it, and then share it with all fellow Chocolate lovers. Did you know that dark Chocolate is actually good for you? Eaten in moderation, Chocolate, especially dark Chocolate, can be very beneficial. It is a good provider of antioxidants, which can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. So go ahead and give in to your cravings.

Here is a really simple yet light and delicious Chocolate ganache cake.

2 ounces 53% cacao dark baking Chocolate, coarsely chopped
2 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup boiling water
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon orange extract
1 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Ganache:
1/4 cup half and half cream
3 ounces 53% cacao dark baking Chocolate, coarsely chopped

Place Chocolate and butter in a large mixing bowl; add boiling water and stir until smooth. Stir in the sugar, buttermilk, egg and extracts. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; beat into Chocolate mixture just until blended.

Transfer to a 9 inch round baking pan coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350 degrees for 18 to 22 minutes or until toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a small heavy saucepan, combine, the ganache ingredients. Cook and stir over low heat until smooth. Transfer to a small bowl; cool 10 minutes or until slightly thickened.

Place cake on a serving plate. Slowly pour ganache over cake, allowing some ganache to drape over the sides. Refrigerate until serving.

Biggest Loser Finale - Ali Wins

Filed under: Programs — admin @ 1:19 pm

Wow! Finally a woman won the title of The Biggest Loser. Ali took home the prize of $250,000. She lost an amazing 112 pounds. She worked hard to get her second chance which was a huge surprise. She was preparing for the finale and unexpectedly got a chance to reenter the game. When Ali and her mom were voted off she knew she was coming back to win. Her determination is so inspiring.

This show offers many Americans hope. To see the contestants lose huge amounts of weight and to ultimately succeed in changing their life as well as their lifestyle. I can’t imagine the sense of accomplishment and fulfillment that Jillian and Bob must feel. They change the contestant’s lives and their fans too.

We need to remind ourselves that we all deserve to be healthy and fit and attractive. The new season of The Biggest Loser begins in October.

Paul McKenna I Can Make You Thin - Your Perfect Body

Filed under: Programs — admin @ 8:55 pm

If you’ve been watching the series you know his basic rules are as follows - eat when you are hungry, eat what you want, eat consciously and quit when you’re full. This sounds very basic to me. When I started watching the show I was looking for help with my binging. I never know when it is going to happen because sometimes I am happy with a small sweet and other times it’s just not enough and I will eat the whole bag. Obviously at those times I’m not eating consciously. I have been trying to slow down my eating and savor every bite. It seems to be working for me.

He also says there is a viscous cycle. Most of us know about it. The one where we say mean things to our selves such as “I’m ugly or fat” then we over eat. After we over indulge we feel bad and eat more to try to make ourselves happy. For some this cycle never stops.

Mr. McKenna says that we need to talk to ourselves. When we are saying to ourselves that we are ugly or fat we should say it in a crazy or silly voice so we don’t take it seriously. Then he states we must say it out loud that we accept our body and the way we look. We need to get rid of the self defeating attitudes. I feel like I have known all along that my binging has to do with my brain and has little to do with my stomach. I convince myself that I need something sweet and I may or may not binge on that item. If we think of our selves in a positive way it has a dramatic affect on the way we feel. It clicked with me.

Paul McKenna wants to make us thin and happy. He wants to help us feel better about ourselves everyday. If we feel better about ourselves it will carry on through out the day. What do you have to lose - give it a try!

Biggest Loser Week 15 Vote Roger or Mark

Filed under: Programs — admin @ 6:45 pm

The Biggest Loser this season continues to mix it up and proves to be a little unpredictable. Who knew we would a have a say in the finale.

For the challenge last night it was amazing watching all the contestants struggle to carry their lost weight. Mark is so competitive. He doesn’t seem to stop. Kelly on the other hand has become so tiring. All of her constant whining and crying…I’m shocked she is in the finals. Ally and Roger are also fierce competitors. It is also interesting that two of the final four got a second chance to join back in the game. The new twist this season is the viewing audience gets to cast a vote between the two men that are below the line – Roger or Mark.

TLC’s Paul McKenna I Can Make You Thin

Filed under: Programs — admin @ 6:57 pm

A new show I have been watching is TLC’s I Can Make You Thin hosted by Paul McKenna on Sunday night. Last night it focused on how to supercharge your metabolism.

Your metabolism depends on food and Exercise. The more you Exercise the faster your body will burn off excess fat even when you’re are sleeping. I like when he talked about the myth of metabolism. Basically overweight people think they are stuck with slow metabolisms. I hear many people complain about their metabolism when in fact they are in control of it and they don’t even realize it.
