Hitting A Plateau With Your Weight Loss

Filed under: Weight Loss — admin @ 12:05 pm

Basically when you hit a plateau and you are eating healthy foods you only have one option you need to burn more calories. And the most efficient way to accomplish this is by engaging in the most efficient form of regular Exercise. That means more or better Exercise, and that is exactly what most do not want to hear. You can actually jump-start your metabolism and burn more calories in less time by making some changes in your Exercise routine.

Doing more of the same isn’t going to work anymore. Your body becomes accustomed to operating at a new weight and current activity level, as often happens after a period of successful dieting. I’m sure many of you have experienced it. Depending on your metabolism, we all have different set points where our weight will plateau, even though we may be doing exactly the same thing we’ve been doing all along to lose weight. There are, of course, those lucky people who are born with a naturally high metabolic rate and who never have to diet or worry about hitting plateaus. They’re the people we all love to hate because they seem to be able to eat anything and not gain weight. It simply doesn’t seem fair!

Many of us, are not so lucky. Our problem is that our metabolism gets stuck in neutral. Our bodies have adjusted to needing fewer calories, so we don’t lose or gain. The only healthy and sustainable solution is to change our Exercise routine and shift our metabolism into a higher gear. We have to rev up our metabolism.

Troubling eating habits…disorders?

Filed under: Weight Loss — admin @ 12:57 pm

A new study says that 6 out of 10 American women are “disordered eaters.” They have unhealthy obsessions with food, their body and eating behaviors. This isn’t just the teens and twenties population this includes women in their 30’s and 40’s of all ethnic backgrounds.

Many women including myself at times do not have a healthy relationship with food or their body. Many women spend half their time thinking about food and meal planning. Some restrict themselves to the same foods everyday. Then there are some that weigh themselves every morning and their mood is determined by what the scale says. I know when the scale goes up I automatically think I need to get some additional Exercise in today.

Sound familiar? It should: According to a survey sixty-five percent of American women who responded are disordered eaters. Eating habits that women think are normal such as eliminating carbs, skipping meals and, in some cases, even dieting itself may actually be symptoms of the syndrome. Although disordered eating doesn’t have the lethal potential of anorexia or bulimia, it can really cause havoc in your emotional and physical health.

Get These 5 Elements Everyday

Filed under: Wellness — admin @ 5:17 pm

For many one of the biggest challenges in life is eating right. It sounds simple, but for most it is complicated. There are five foods that we should take in everyday. The first is whole grains. They contain a lot of fiber which we need 3 servings a day or about 20 grams. The second food we need in our diet everyday is green veggies and ice berg lettuce does not count. It needs to be dark green such as broccoli, asparagus and spinach. Next we need nuts and seeds. They are rich in omega 3’s and antioxidants. Great choices are almonds, cashews and walnuts. Be careful with this category because they are also high in calories. It only takes a small handful. The next group we need everyday is yogurt and milk which are rich in vitamin d and considered an essential nutrient. Lastly is green tea. Try replacing your coffee with this drink that is rich in antioxidants.

South Beach Diet Cookbook

When you put on too much weight it can dramatically reduce the quality of your health and life in general. So when weight gain happens to most people, they seek out help which results in a new diet. There are so many diets to choose from and which ones really work. Some want money to buy their special menus and others have requirements that cannot be consistently met. What is their result? They fail—simple as that. If you have to go to a specialty health food store to buy the proper food for a diet you will find it to be very expensive and unsustainable because it wrecks your budget. If you have to cut out carbohydrates or things you like to eat from your diet forever you will soon grow weary and go back to eating them—another diet failed. But there is a diet that gives you some balance and doctors recommend it quite often: The South Beach Diet.

Help your child lose weight

Filed under: Weight Loss — admin @ 6:57 pm

Do you want to lose weight or help your child lose weight? What are the fast and easy answers? It is the thing we hear over and over… diet and Exercise of course.

Everyone knows that a healthy diet and regular Exercise are the answers to Losing Weight and staying at a healthy weight. We don’t need more studies looking into the causes of obesity. It isn’t just fast food, or larger portions, or increased inactivity, that are causing more kids and adults to be overweight. There is not one single thing that we can easily change that will make fewer people overweight. For most people, it is a combination of all of these things.

The problem is how do you get motivated to eat healthier and Exercise. That’s not easy for most. Even if you can get motivated to start eating better and exercising more, keeping it up is the bigger challenge. Fortunately kids have a built in way to get motivated and that is through school. Schools could be making major changes to provide their students with healthy meals and regular Exercise, but instead they make small steps such as banning soda and fruit drinks.

These five quick and easy Weight Loss steps are things that you can do right now to lead your kids, and your family, to a healthier way of living.

Paul McKenna I Can Make You Thin - Your Perfect Body

Filed under: Programs — admin @ 8:55 pm

If you’ve been watching the series you know his basic rules are as follows - eat when you are hungry, eat what you want, eat consciously and quit when you’re full. This sounds very basic to me. When I started watching the show I was looking for help with my binging. I never know when it is going to happen because sometimes I am happy with a small sweet and other times it’s just not enough and I will eat the whole bag. Obviously at those times I’m not eating consciously. I have been trying to slow down my eating and savor every bite. It seems to be working for me.

He also says there is a viscous cycle. Most of us know about it. The one where we say mean things to our selves such as “I’m ugly or fat” then we over eat. After we over indulge we feel bad and eat more to try to make ourselves happy. For some this cycle never stops.

Mr. McKenna says that we need to talk to ourselves. When we are saying to ourselves that we are ugly or fat we should say it in a crazy or silly voice so we don’t take it seriously. Then he states we must say it out loud that we accept our body and the way we look. We need to get rid of the self defeating attitudes. I feel like I have known all along that my binging has to do with my brain and has little to do with my stomach. I convince myself that I need something sweet and I may or may not binge on that item. If we think of our selves in a positive way it has a dramatic affect on the way we feel. It clicked with me.

Paul McKenna wants to make us thin and happy. He wants to help us feel better about ourselves everyday. If we feel better about ourselves it will carry on through out the day. What do you have to lose - give it a try!
